Meet the Doctors

Dr. Michael Shatto

I was born in the San Francisco Bay Area and raised in Livermore CA. My interest in chiropractic began in high school as I explored the various fields of health care. It has long been my dream to become a doctor. I was drawn to chiropractic first because treating a patient’s condition by addressing the cause rather than the symptoms had always made good sense to me. Second, because as a patient I have experienced the chiropractic adjustment as a powerful tool for addressing the causes of dysfunction. I studied locally at both KCC and OIT. In 2013 I completed my undergraduate work and transferred to the University of Western States in Portland OR. In 2016, I graduated Magna cum laude with a Doctor of Chiropractic degree with a BS in Human Biology. Following graduation I completed an internship at Back to Health Chiropractic Alliance under the mentorship of Dr. Robert Taylor. I benefitted immensely from learning from such a highly respected and skilled physician. My wife Tammy and I are excited to have returned home to our children, grand-children, parents, siblings and friends in Klamath Falls. We greatly enjoy practicing and serving in the community. I spend as much of my spare time as possible outdoors either fishing, hunting, or hiking. I love living in Klamath Falls because the opportunities to pursue these passions are endless. I count among my most treasured memories those spent fishing and hunting in the region with family and friends.

Dr. James Barker

Dr. James Barker graduated from Parker University in Dallas, TX with a Doctorate of Chiropractic and a Master of Science degree in Neuroscience.  Prior to becoming a chiropractor, he and his wife Tamara, a native of Klamath Falls, have had the privilege of living in many beautiful states including Hawaii, New Mexico and Alaska where they pastored a church in Anchorage for 9 years.  Dr. Barker’s strong belief that the human body is “fearfully and wonderfully made” led him to further his passion for serving people by embarking on a career of service in chiropractic which he believes empowers our innate, God-given intelligence to cause the body to heal.

In addition to his service as a Captain in the US Army, Dr. Barker served at Parker University in the student senate as the student body president throughout the duration of his education. In his free time, he loves spending time with his family, fly fishing, working out, and blowing leaves off the road while riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle.  He is excited to be living in yet another beautiful state where he can enjoy all of the wonderful recreation Oregon has to offer.

Some fun facts about Dr. Barker in his own words:  “I’m a bit obsessed with coffee and guacamole (not together tho)"

Music: “Classic rock, hair bands, and heavy metal. Actually, just give me Jesus Culture."

Favorite Movies: The Matrix, Saving Private Ryan, Crazy Stupid Love, Iron Man thru Endgame

Favorite TV Shows: Big Bang, The Office, Band of Brothers

Bottom Line: "I love people and I love serving them! It’s what I have done my entire professional career. I love being a chiropractor because it’s very rewarding to see how someone’s body can heal and as a result completely change their life – just by using my hands, no surgery or drugs needed!"

Dr. Barker is certified in several chiropractic techniques including Torque Release, and Webster Prenatal, and Postpartum chiropractic care for women.

Dr. Robert Taylor

I was born in Louisville, KY in 1971. I planned on becoming a doctor at a very young age. My step-mother came into the kitchen and I was sitting in the floor hitting my knee with a hammer. When she asked what I was doing, I replied, “checking my repulses”. We can only assume that I confused reflexes and impulses, but the stage was set at age 8 for me to become a doctor. During my undergraduate studies at University of Kentucky I was injured diving from the 10 meter platform. The medical doctors were unable to help me, so in order to keep my athletic scholarship I visited a chiropractor and he changed my life. I changed from Biology/Pre-med to Chiropractic and graduated from Texas Chiropractic College in 1997. I moved to Klamath Falls immediately after finishing school and opened my first office at Campus Square in 2001. Back to Health Chiropractic Alliance moved downtown to the current location in July of 2009. Our vision is being a complete wellness resource. The most important things in my life are my family, Linda, Dillon and Audrey and helping my patients live their best possible life through the power of the chiropractic adjustment. I love Klamath and the outdoors. In the summer we spend as much time as possible on the water either skiing or sailing and rock climbing. In the winter we love snowboarding and watching football.
